James Shea

James Shea was appointed Chief Executive Officer and Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors, Sompo International Holdings Ltd. and Chief Executive Officer of Overseas Insurance and Reinsurance Business, Sompo Holdings, Inc. in September 2021. Having served in various senior level positions in Canada, the U.S., UK, France, Japan and Singapore throughout his career, he was most recently CEO of Zurich Insurance Group’s Global Commercial Insurance Business and member of their Executive Committee from 2016 until 2021. Prior to that, he served as the President of Global Financial Lines for AIG in New York and CEO of Commercial Insurance for AIG in Asia Pacific. Earlier in his career, Mr. Shea held several senior underwriting and general management roles. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from McGill University.
