Meet Jennifer (Burke) Schiltz, Multinational Client Coordinator, North America
Please tell us about your career journey and your path to Sompo.
I started my career in reinsurance at ALICO, and then found myself in underwriting at ACE/Chubb, where I underwrote Controlled Master Programs (CMPs) in Accident & Health as well as Accident & Health Affinity Department’s Credit Card Benefits.
After leaving Chubb I wanted to learn a new line of business, so I joined USLI and underwrote Property and General Liability coverage. I then moved onto the carrier side at USI Affinity providing Lawyers Liability Coverage to law firms all over the country prior to starting at Sompo in MBU in November 2020.
What advice do you have for prospective Sompo candidates?
My advice is to ask any and all questions you may have; it’s the only way to learn and embrace the ever-changing insurance industry. Don’t be afraid to learn a new line of business, and take on new opportunities even if they’re out of your comfort zone.
Tell us about an initiative at Sompo that you are most excited for in 2023.
Sompo is growing rapidly, especially within MBU, so the one initiative I would have to choose is the multinational business growth initiative. I love that I get to build relationships with underwriters in all lines of business, not only in the United States, but all over the world.
What is your idea of a perfect day outside of the office?
In the winter, spending a day relaxing with my husband, my son and my Rottweiler. But in the summer, you can find us sitting on the dock of the bay with family any chance we get!
