LONDON, United Kingdom – December 11, 2023 – Sompo announced today the appointment of Stephen Barr as Head of Marine & Energy Liability Insurance, London Market. He will be based in London and report into Paul Ashworth, Head of Aviation, Energy and Marine, London Market.

Mr. Barr joins Sompo from CNA/Hardy, where he was European Head of Marine Insurance. He has previously worked as both an underwriter and a broker with Talbot, Hiscox and Sedgwick. In 2022 he was appointed as vice chair of the International Union of Marine Insurance’s executive committee.
