MILAN, Italy – 5 September 2023 – Sompo, a leading global provider of commercial and consumer property and casualty (re)insurance, today announced the appointment of five members to its insurance leadership team in Italy. All will be based in Milan and report into Simona Fumagalli, Country Manager Insurance, Italy. AgriSompo’s Italian-based business and team will continue to report into Marji Guyler-Alaniz, President of AgriSompo and COO, AgriSompo North America. AgriSompo is Sompo’s global agricultural platform.
Brunello Bulciaghi will lead Property Insurance, and also report into Angela Weiss, Head of Property & Energy Insurance, Continental Europe. Mr. Bulciaghi joins Sompo from Aon Reinsurance Italy where he was a Property and Facultative Non-Marine Broker for Italy. Prior to this, he held senior property underwriting positions with AXA XL and AIG Europe.
Davide Dacquino will take charge of Marine Insurance, also reporting into René Huber, Head of Specialty & Marine Insurance, Continental Europe. Mr. Dacquino joins from AXA XL, where he was Senior Marine Underwriter for Italy. He has held marine underwriting positions at XL Catlin, ITAS Mutua and Sun Insurance.
Luca Ricca will lead Professional Lines Insurance, and also report into Mathieu Borneuf, Head of Professional Lines Insurance, Continental Europe. Mr. Ricca joins from ANV in Barcelona, where he led their Southern Europe Financial Institutions practice. He has also worked at Beazley, Liberty Mutual and Dual Italy.
Michele Lanni will run Casualty Insurance. Mr. Lanni joins Sompo from Mithras Underwriting Italy where he was Divisional Director of Business Development and Underwriting. He has previous underwriting experience at Victor Insurance and QBE Europe in London.
Giovanni D’Antonio, who was appointed in February as Head of Accident & Health Insurance for Italy is also a member of the leadership team.
